You are not behind on AI. You just have not had a clear way in that does not require a computer science degree.
The World Economic Forum expects 39% of workers' core skills to change by 2030. AI is no longer just for engineers, and the people who learn to build with it now, not just use it, are going to have a real head start.
My friend will.i.am is teaching an 8-week college course on exactly that, and you do not need to be an ASU student or know how to code to take it. Here is everything you need to know, including a deadline that is coming up fast.

What it is: The Agentic Self
An 8-week ASU college course where you build your own personal AI agent around your values, your voice, and a real problem you want to solve. It is hands-on from the start, you create a real project using AI, and there is no traditional final exam.
Who can take it: anyone
No coding experience, no computer science background, and no need to already be an ASU student. It is open to non-degree students, and you can join in person in Tempe or LA, or online from anywhere.
What you get: skills, credits, and a credential
You leave having built your own AI agent, and you earn 3 ASU college credits plus a digital credential. That is a concrete thing to point to, not just another course you watched.
How to enroll: three steps
1. Apply to ASU as a non-degree student.
2. Get your student ID, which takes a couple of days.
3. Register for "The Agentic Self."
🚨 Registration closes October 15, and classes start October 19. Do not sit on this one.
Pair it with: Wispr Flow
An agent built around your voice works best when you can actually talk to it. Wispr Flow turns speech into clean text in any app, so you can brief your agent, capture ideas, and work through the course without being stuck at a keyboard.
I think about this a lot as a mom. I want my son growing up knowing how to build with AI, not just use it. Imagine walking into your first job already knowing how to create your own AI agents. That is the head start I want for him, and for you.
Know someone who has been wanting to learn AI? Forward this to them.
